Drinking fresh juice is super refreshing. I’ve made a lot of different juices, this is one basic recipe that has always tasted great.
This juice will put you miles ahead of the competition and will make you feel so damn good!
The recipe should make approximately two 16 ounce servings – two mason jars full.
- 4-5+ ribs of Celery
- 4-5 leaves of Cabbage
- 1/2 Cucumber
- 1/2 Jalapeno (omit if you can’t take the heat :), or add a whole one if you like it hot)
- 1 Carrot
- 1 to 2 inch piece of Ginger root
- 1 or 2 nubs of Turmeric root
- 1 Grapefruit
- 1 Orange
- A pour or two of Aloe juice
Making a juice is pretty simple. Making a juice taste great takes a good recipe or some experimentation. For my juices I basically wash and prep everything. Then peel and chop ingredients up into small pieces so it goes through the juicer nicely.
After things are chopped and ready, start up your juicer and get the juice flowing, adding the goodies in small handfuls.
I try to vary the ingredients as they are going into the juicer. Long Celery strings can clog up the juicer while solid carrot junks can help push the pulp out.
After the veggies and fruit are juiced add the Aloe, let it run through and sort of ‘clean out’ the juicer. Before drinking you may have to stir the juice to mix it up as it can separate when sitting.
Pour into your favorite vessel and enjoy. Make sure to wash your juicer right away so food doesn’t get dried up and clog / make it harder to wash later.
A bit more about the juicer and tools I like
There are a number of Masticating Juicers out there.
I’ve been using the Breville BJS600XL Fountain Crush Masticating Slow Juicer and it has worked nicely. From what I can tell it is not currently available on Amazon. Maybe a new model is on the way.
Some day we may also try out the Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Juicer.
